Motivation
Hoffmann’s House motivation
is based exclusively in making
more bearable the environment
that many times is felt uncomfortable,
whether on the artistically,
political and social point
of view.
Tired of the artistic “adjustments“,
the languishing ideology of
the creators, who established
themselves in the powered
positions and the polarized
fights of university people
who try to homologate the
speech to be able to keep
their jobs, Hoffmann appears
as a possibility to gain a
physic and conceptual space,
which allows to get such a
diversity, to be able to overcome
the barriers of our ancestors,
who are willing to rigorously
restrict with the objective
of not encouraging the renovation
of local art.
In that sense, Hoffmann’s
House through his mechanism
of “an apex roof shed”,
was able to install from and
for the art, a critical work
with respect to the same appealed
environment, obtaining through
the insistence, presence and
evidence to fill up a space
in the imaginary of the cultural
actors, so that, from inside,
they are able to remove (as
a parasite) the waters and
then be able to disorganize,
if possible , all the obsolete
structures that are convenient
to some people’s own
interests.
After reaching what was mentioned
above, and being able to print
literally the memory of Hoffmann’s
House in a catalogue document,
we propose ourselves a new
challenge.
The coming March 24th, Hoffmann’s
House is looking forward to
present its next work, E.I.E.I.
(International Conference
of Independent Art Spaces).
The whole operation consists
in gathering fifteen spaces
of different countries worldwide,
at the Valparaíso port
of Chile, with three clear
objectives:
- To work with art spaces
who are projected from their
own living area and coincide
with us to give priority to
concepts of cooperation, companionship
and neighborhood, with no
more wishes than making more
affable the environment, with
identity and amusement; without
leaving aside the critical
energy and the deep analysis
of some subjects.
- To link all these experiences
and be able to create nets
of exchange that “decentralize”
the way that countries operate
in this part of the world,
specially Chile, dumping the
institutions which until today,
according to our point of
view, have not achieved this.
- To focus the management
of these spaces (which have
reached with character, convincement
and little economical resources,
to install locally and sometimes
also internationally, its
managements) without the intention
of being paternalist, to be
carriers of the energy that
will promote the new generations
of local artists, to have
conscious of the possibility
of outlining way-out roads,
far away from the continuous
and long wait, to receive
the support of the entities
of power.
